CHRISTIAN VON KOENIGSEGG: THE DREAM THAT WOULDN'T DIE

2002 · Koenigsegg · Christian von Koenigsegg · 6 min

A young Swede with no car company turned a childhood dream into one of the world's most advanced hypercar makers.

THE DREAM

Christian von Koenigsegg grew up in Sweden with a fascination for machines and, reportedly, a childhood ambition to build a perfect sports car. In 1994, at 22, he founded the company that still bears his name.

THE MACHINE

The first prototype, the CC, was shown in 1996 and took years of refinement — and the company survived near-collapse — before the CC8S reached customers in 2002.

Koenigsegg later pioneered free-valve technology and the 'world's fastest production car' title with the Agera RS in 2017.
